Handelslehranstalt Hameln (HLA) is a school of secondary education in the famous town of Hameln. We are situated very close to the historic old town directly on the river Weser. Focusing on general and vocational education in the fields of economy and health HLA has prepared its graduates to enter universities or to work as experts in enterprises and administration for more than 150 years. In modern premises and equipped with modern technology we are the regional centre of competence in the field of business.
In 2018 almost 1500 students attend HLA in five different types of schools.
Berufliches Gymnasium is a full time school leading to the German Certificate for University Admission. In a period of three years students acquire a good knowledge in Business Studies, Economics and IT but also in general subjects such as foreign languages, Mathematics, Biology and German.
Fachoberschule Wirtschaft specializes in Business Studies and Economics but also offers general subjects. After a two years training students graduate with a vocational diploma which enables them to enter polytechnics or universities of applied sciences.
Berufsfachschule Wirtschaft is a fulltime vocational school preparing students for either an apprenticeship in business or for a further education in the two schools mentioned before.
Berufsschule is the traditional German vocational school. Students are employed in an apprenticeship and acquire theoretical knowledge attending school once or twice a week (Dual system).
As Europaschule (European School) HLA works with institutions all over Europe and offers students regular (at least annual) exchanges with our partner schools in Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Poland and the Slovak Republic. Besides, HLA frequently participates in multinational Comenius projects funded by the European Union.
Teaching three foreign languages (English, Spanish and French, HLA enables its students to profit from the European labour market. Also, we help to find worldwide internships for students and encourage our students to go abroad for a certain period.
A variety of additional qualifications, such as certificates in foreign languages, the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL), the European Business Baccalaureate Diploma or the qualification as Europakaufmann (additional European qualification for apprentices) enables our students to be always one step ahead of others.
In order to promote a principle of equal opportunities we try to meet each student’s possibilities. A framework of various modules, from a students’ network to extracurricular lessons and seminars helps students overcome difficulties and meet today’s requirements.
Students and teachers are highly committed to working in our school and in a lot of extracurricular activities. Have a look at our homepage and see for yourself.
